AFTER A LONG HIATUS

I'M BACK!!!!! 

Today, after such a long hiatus, I realised, I haven't updated this blog & I've been soooo UNPRODUCTIVE... I sewed but not as many as before & gradually I became lazier... then ended up piling up all the fabulous fabies in my sewing store room.... Shame on me... :P

It's almost the end of 2013 & this is the 1st post I made.... Another shame... (sigh!) :(

Dearest friends who share the same interests like me.... Forgive my silence... I've made up my mind to be ALIVE once more... My late sister always supported me & I know she won't let me drowned. She'll always be here.. in my heart. Yun, I love u & I miss u. May Allah bless your soul. Aminnn..

There're so many things that I've stopped doing. There're a lot of PHDs but they are going to be my 2014 projects...  Wish me the best of luck, ok?

3. I'm making something extra for her.... more belated gift!
(err....baru perasan, no signature yet on d block.. cis!.)

The inspiration of this block is from January's Block by Quilt Dad.

It's called "Sands of Time Block".

Instead of 8.5"x8.5" unfinished, I modified to 12.5"x12.5" unfinished

but after measuring, still didn't get the exact 12.5"! Aduss!!!

So... maybe another try on this!

Pertandingan Gubahan Hari Koperasi

Every year, we celebrate Hari Koperasi in school. It's today! Kak Yati & I formed a group & took part in "Pertandingan Gubahan Coklat Wafer" for teachers. Well, this is the result.......

A red aeroplane...... on cloud nine... hahahaha....

The result? We got no. 2 taw!

err.... only 2 groups of teachers participated ler..... hihihihi....

Never mind la... The most important thing is.....

We've done our very best.

Another Teacher's Day celebration....

I wanted to sew something for my children's teachers

but as usual, they had their own minds...

They didn't want to burden me with extra task..

(mmg anak2 yg baik, kn?)

 But I was busy too..

(so lega jugak sbb mama diaorang ni sibuk jer memanjang... ;P)

Raina wanted to make bookmarks for her teachers...

and these are the results... 

I wrote d wordings...  The rest was up to her...

not for my teachers.

coz they have the right to choose,

they have the right to speak up.

The freedom is theirs.

(of course, under mama's supervision

& within the budget!)

Once they make up their minds,

they must be responsible of their choices!

No turning back ya....

QADA EARTH DAY KER?

Last night, I reached home quite late as all of us were at my parents' house till 8 something in the evening. Once at home, I bathed & was in my sewing room.... in the final stage of completing the block I should send to March Birthday Block gal. All of a sudden (baru jer jahit sikit).... ooopsss... there's a hint as if there would be a black out... And believe it or not... all became pitch black! I was alone upstairs, trying to see in the dark & went downstairs sentimentally... (mcm org buta, beb!). Well, it seemed that all my neighbours were facing the same problem... No electricity lol!

My Cik Abg joked "Tu la... sbb x tutup lampu masa Earth Day hr tu". Ye ker? An attempt to find candles was fruitless, yet the torchlight I bought for a camp was a great help indeed!

MCA had a wonderful idea.... He wanted to get out of the darkness & get fresh air...& get more lights. So whoever wanted to join in his 'outing' club was welcome. I had work to do but the invitation was too tempting. Why not? Dok kat rumah pon bkn boleh menjahit. Kerja sekolah pon terbengkalai...

D'ya know that the blackout involved a large area of my 'taman' & nearby housing estates except my parents' house. We went to a 24-hour shop to buy candles & had our late supper at Mohabath Nasi Kandar restaurant in Tmn Ria. I was already full & had told myself to control my food intake but.... when you have nothing much to do... eating seems like the best option... hehehe...

So last night was our qada Earth Day.... X payah suruh tutup lampu... mmg semua gulap gulita....

My kids slept early... MCA slept early.... Me? Sorry lar... I had to prepare for my presentation for a workshop in school (Teknik Menjawab PMR... jgn x caya) until the battery of my lappy exhausted. However, I didn't mind it... I was more frustrated not being able to finish my block. :P

Early in the morning, still in darkness, I went to work. The presentation was OK. I really hope so much that my students understood well all the tips I delivered today. Now, back home, with the help of the generator provided by TNB outside (sbb pencawang utama meletup semlm sampai pencawang lain terbakar), I wonder..... "If only I have a sewing machine which requires no electricity..." Yelah, at least I still can sew & finish my block, kan?

Well, I rest my case.

p.s. The moral of the story is....."Life is so meaningless without sewing especially when you are in the mood." Tidor semalam pon tidor2 ayam jer sbb terkenang..... alahai... Btw....

January Birthday BOM 2012

I took part in a quilting activity this year... It's "Birthday Block of the Month(BOM") Quilt Along. Learned about it in Quilt Group in FB. Terkial2 gak cari tutorials on 12"x12" & found the pattern HERE. It's from BERRIMA PATCHWORK. Free patterns & tutorials lol! Sapa tak nak rugi ler.... hehehe.....

HI 2012, BYE 2011

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012!
Do u have any new year resolution? Well, I'm not so sure whether I need a new year resolution as a lot from last year's list are still pending..... Sooooo... my new year resolution is to make sure all from the old list will be done aka finished aka completed by Dec 2012 plus a few additional resolutions added to motivate & assist myself.

Hmmm... what did I achieve in the world of crafting? Not as many as I'd like but towards the end of 2011, I did finish a few UFOs.... It's just that I'm too lazy to upload them here... errr... I can't upload ler coz still haven't snapped the photos yet... hehehe... Maybe next time.

I believe that 2011 is my unproductive year. I spent more time & energy on other matters. I neglected my sewing room & did something else... I was very much involved in my other world as well as in my quest to slim down. Do u know that my weight nearly reached 70kg early of the year! My health wasn't good too. I took action immediately & alhamdulillah.... I've shed a few kilos & my health is much better now. Hoping for more improvements in all aspects of life including sewing & crafting.
Yes! Yakin boleh!

Hey! I went to Kak Corine's house recently.. but that's going to be another story, kan? Do you know that I celebrated my 13th anniversary last month? Again, it's another story. Many stories, a lot of news... yet so little space, not much time... I think I'd wait till the right time comes..

My Lil Apprentice & Her Keychain

If I buy a new Brother, who will inherit my Singer? Hmmm... the best solution is to train my lil apprentice lah... Apprentice? Wow, such a big word lol! When I voiced out to MCA, he 150% agreed! So the lesson started a few days ago... Raina sewed for the very 1st time using my Singer..

a felt keychain for herself....;D(nama tu Raina tulis guna fabric marker jer...)

Let's look at the back....sooo sempoi but I'm soooo very proud!

p.s. About my to-be 'partner' in my sacred sewing room, MCA told me to wait.... "Pikir pjg, jgn pikir pendek," he said, referring to QC1000 which will be mine in Feb or March 2012 or NV50 at any time now. Well, what do you think?

but if you go to lsn, you'll get 14 free gifts worth RM201.50...
from 5-31 Dec 2011 HERE ... hmmmm...

Reasonable price, get free gifts but LSN is too far lol... not in SP! :P (sigh!)

2. Another Brother... QC1000...

RM5,999 but an asset to any quilter...
Got an offer last month in SP... reduced to RM5,499..
but not sure if it's still available...
1st come, 1st served lol.

3. Janome 6500... the price is similar to Brother QC1000...

Free lessons in SP...
must use/buy their materials but I don't mind...
get free books too...

4. Lastly, Horizon 7700.. another Janome...

nearly RM7k!
But interesting.... scarlet... i like!
free lessons, free books..
Yet the price... ayoyo... kena menabung ler...:P

In short, follow my heart or follow my budget?
The cheapest is the 1st ler... NV50..
Proven by many that it's reliable..
plus affordable too even though it's computerized..

Asked for MCA's opinion...
He said, "Blh sabar tak?"
Be patient for another 6 months or a year? Or maybe 2 or 3?
(yg 2, 3 thn tu sendiri tambah.. hehehe...)
My heart says, "Nak skrg!"
Yup! I really want it now! Choice 2, 3 & 4 are all over budget!
Soooo... should I go for NV50 now? Maybe in the future, once money isn't a big issue, I can simply point my finger to all the machines & remark "Hey! They are all mine!" hahahaha.... (berangannyer aku... sungguh tamak haloba...)

I attended a course called "Kursus Jahitan Baju Kurung"
at Kolej Komuniti SP last week (12-14 Dec 2011)!
Belajar sambil bersila... best...
Ni ler cikgu & murid2nya....

Ni cikgu daku...Ezan namanya.... muda lg...

Sebelum balik, sempat lagi b'gambar beramai2.... hehehe...

Will show off my handmade baju kurung later ya. Guess what? Terkial2 nk menjahit baju. Camner ler nk jahit baju sendiri ni.... First attempt: Besaq la pulak baju tu. Tpaksa buka balik. Skrg rasa ngam2 la pulak... Sabor je la.... But whatever happens, I'll make sure I'll wear that baju kurung... Buruk pon xper. Yg penting sendiri jahit...;D
